Welcome to the First Pour
Welcome to the very first edition of my personal passion project — a window into the vibrant, messy, joyful (and sometimes chaotic) world of life in a restaurant. I’m Alec Montgomery, and for over a decade, I’ve lived and breathed this industry, sharing moments with people from every walk of life — your neighbor, your friend, maybe even your own family.
Yes, the restaurant life can be demanding, and yes, it can feel thankless at times. But here’s the truth no one tells you: the most unforgettable connections often happen at the table — and sometimes inside a bottle, on a plate, or in a fleeting encounter that lingers long after the check is paid.
These stories are real. They’re pulled from countless tables I’ve served — moments of laughter, tears, misunderstandings, and pure human connection. My mission? To show the restaurant world in every light, the good and the gritty, while creating a living journal of the incredible people I’ve met along the way.
So pull up a chair. The first round’s on me.
On the left, a server pours a single glass of Brunello di Montalcino for a couple seated on the right, their hands gently intertwined atop the table.
